Support does not stop when the appointment ends.
Your individual aftercare instructions take priority because different services have different requirements. This page gives general guidance and tells you when to contact us.
Find the section you need.
Follow the instructions given for your appointment.
Aftercare can differ considerably between services. If your individual instructions differ from general website information, follow the instructions you were given for your own treatment.
- Keep your aftercare information somewhere easy to find.
- Ask before using products or activities you are unsure about.
- Do not copy another person's aftercare plan.
- Contact us if you are unsure or something does not feel as expected.
Mild changes can happen after some treatments.
Depending on the treatment, temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, small marks or bruising may occur. What is expected — and how long it may last — depends on the service and the individual.
If you are unsure whether something is expected, contact us rather than relying on general internet advice.
Facial / prescribed treatment aftercare
Follow the product- and treatment-specific instructions given after your appointment. Where a prescribed treatment has been used, the advice provided for that treatment and any patient information supplied should be followed.
Do not self-correct
If an area looks or feels different from what you expected, contact the clinic for advice rather than massaging, applying remedies or seeking another procedure without guidance.
Your aftercare depends on the treatment actually provided.
Because different approaches can be used for jaw and teeth-grinding concerns, follow your individual plan. Contact us if you have unexpected symptoms, worsening pain or questions about eating, exercise or other activities after treatment.
Keep your individual instructions.
Aftercare depends on the treatment provided and the area treated. If you have been advised to avoid particular products, heat, exercise or friction for a period, follow the timeframe you were given.

Microneedling Aftercare
Skin may be temporarily red, sensitive or dry after some microneedling appointments. Follow the skincare, sun-exposure and product advice you were given.
Ask an aftercare question
PRP Aftercare
Follow the specific aftercare given for the area and technique used. Contact us before adding products, treatments or activities you were told to avoid.
Ask an aftercare questionFollow the instructions for the exact service you received.
Wellness services can involve different products and routes of administration. General website advice cannot replace the instructions given for the specific service, product and individual assessment.
If you are worried, ask.
Contact Barker's Aesthetics if symptoms are unexpected, worsening, persistent, significantly painful, or simply making you concerned. A question is better than guessing.
Emergency: This website is not an emergency service. For life-threatening symptoms call 999. For urgent medical help that is not life-threatening, use NHS 111.
